The SIMATIC S7-1200 features an integrated PROFINET interface, powerful integrated process capabilities, and flexible scalability, providing simple communication and effective solutions for various process tasks, especially meeting completely different automation needs in various applications.
Easy and convenient installation
All SIMATIC S7-1200 hardware comes with built-in mounting clips that can be easily installed on a standard 35mm DIN rail. These built-in mounting clips can bite into a protruding position to provide mounting holes when backplate suspension installation is required. The SIMATIC S7-1200 hardware can be installed vertically or horizontally. These features provide users with great flexibility in installing PLCs, while also making the SIMATIC S7-1200 an ideal choice for many application scenarios.
Detachable terminals
All SIMATIC S7-1200 hardware is equipped with detachable terminal blocks. Therefore, only one wiring is needed, saving valuable time during the project initiation and debugging phases. In addition, it also simplifies the process of replacing hardware components.

All SIMATIC S7-1200 hardware is designed to be compact in order to save installation space in the control cabinet. For example, the width of CPU 1215C is only 130 mm, the width of CPU 1214C is only 110 mm, and the widths of CPU 1212C and CPU 1211C are also only 90 mm. The SIMATIC S7-1200 CPU can add three communication modules, supporting PROFIBUS master-slave communication, RS485 and RS232 communication modules for point-to-point serial communication and I/O connection to the master station. The configuration and programming of this communication are carried out using extended instruction or library functions, USS driver protocol, Modbus RTU master and slave protocols, all of which are included in the SIMATICSTEP 7 Basic engineering configuration system.
Simple remote control application
The new communication processor CP 1242-7 can simultaneously monitor and control the distributed S7-1200 units through a simple HUB (hub) or mobile phone network or the Internet (Internet).
Integrate PROFINET interface
The integrated PROFINET interface is used for programming, HMI communication, and communication between PLCs. In addition, it also supports communication with third-party devices through open Ethernet protocols. This interface comes with an RJ45 connector with auto cross over capability, providing a data transmission rate of 10/100 Mbit/s and supporting the following protocols: TCP/IP native, ISO on TCP, and S7 communication.

High speed input
The SIMATIC S7-1200 controller comes with up to 6 high-speed counters. Three inputs are 100 kHz and three inputs are 30 kHz, used for counting and measurement.
High-Speed Output
The SIMATIC S7-1200 controller integrates four 100 kHz high-speed pulse outputs for speed and position control of stepper motors or servo drives. All four outputs can output pulse width modulation signals to control motor speed, valve position, or heating element duty cycle using PLCopen motion control commands.
SIMATIC S7-1217C supports 6 high-speed counting channels, of which 4 channels support 1MHz and PWM/PTO 1MHz output.
storage
Provide up to 150 KB of shared working memory for user instructions and data. It also provides up to 4 MB of integrated loading memory and 10 KB of power down hold memory. SIMATIC memory cards are optional and can be used as programming cards, transfer cards, and firmware update cards with different settings. It allows for easy transfer of programs to multiple CPUs. This card can also be used to store various files or update the firmware of the controller system. (Not applicable to V3.0 and later versions)
Smart devices
Through simple configuration, the S7-1200 controller can achieve distributed I/O applications in a master-slave architecture by performing read and write operations on the I/O mapping area. CPUs can be connected to different network systems.
